Web Design and Development

Every business needs a website. There isn't a single business out there that couldn't benefit from having a presence on the web.

Moreover, every older website needs a refresh of its layout and graphics just to stay current and be viewed favorably by the customer base.

For something so essential yet so in need of regular revisions, it might seem like going with the cheapest website, one with a low up-front cost, and that can periodically changed would be your best bet. In theory, this kind of website would keep your expenses low.

This company can make me a five page site based on one of their templates. Is it a wise idea for me to use them?

No matter how you cut it, cheap template sites are the worst websites available. For one, they're cheap because they are based upon templates. Template can be "made" in a matter of hours, but they also look like every other site that company makes.

Template sites lack originality. They're stale, simple, and poorly designed.

Few template-based sites follow the international web-standards set down by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). They will not always work on every browser, nor will they work on all standard monitors. A portion of the time even the newest browsers will have issue viewing cheap template sites.

In addition, it's hard to do even the most basic of updates or layout changes to these sites. Many of them require an expensive tech to maintain, cutting into the money that was supposedly saved when the template site was puchased.

Down the road when it comes time to refresh the graphics and the layout of the site, little will be possible with a template based site. Because of the way these sites are coded, most changes are impossible; elements cannot be moved, pictures have to remain the exact same sizes, fonts and color potentially cannot be changed. These limits would require the aquisition of an entirely new site to remedy.

You won't save money with a template based site, especially if you want your site to look professional or if you want any control.

The staff at Input-Output Unlimited, Inc. has a better way. We will make you a custom, hand-coded, hand-designed site that blends properly with your corporate identity, will be far easier and cheaper to maintain, and, down the road, will be easier to upgrade than any template site.
